Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, has urged President Akufo-Addo to ensure a violence-free 2024 election.
Recalling the violence during the 2020 elections, Chambas emphasized that no blood should be shed this time, urging the President to prioritize peaceful polls as part of his legacy.
He called for restraint from security forces, advising against the use of lethal weapons, and stressed the need for neutrality.
Chambas warned that all those involved in any election-related violence, including vigilantes, would be held accountable, highlighting the shared responsibility of maintaining peace.
