Wontumi Granted bail with two sureties

Benard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, has been granted bail. The bail amount is undisclosed and requires two sureties.

He reported to the Police Criminal Investigation Department on May 26, 2025. This followed a failed attempt to arrest him on May 22, 2025.

Wontumi was accompanied by his lawyer, Godfred Dame. He faced charges related to illegal mining activities.

After questioning, Wontumi spoke to the media. He denied any involvement in illegal mining.

“I showed them my license to prove I am not into galamsey,” he said. He also refuted claims about mining in protected forests and challenged authorities for evidence.

“They granted me bail with two sureties,” he added.
