The Majority in Parliament has asserted that the Minority caucus will remain in opposition for an extended period, pointing to the economic challenges inherited from the Akufo-Addo administration.
During a debate on President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address, Deputy Majority Leader Kweku Ricketts-Hagan criticized the former government’s excessive borrowing, which he said led to economic hardship.
He questioned the Minority’s early criticism of the current administration, which has only been in office for two months.
Ricketts-Hagan also dismissed remarks from former President Akufo-Addo about fiscal discipline, highlighting that his government had defaulted on debt payments since 2022.
He urged the Minority to be patient, emphasizing that Ghanaians still remember the previous administration’s mismanagement.
