Your 'Dumsor' Levy is draconian - Kozie tells Mahama

Akosua Manu is the New Patriotic Party’s candidate for Adentan Constituency in 2024. She criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s administration over the dumsor levy. She called it “draconian and farcical.”

Manu accused the NDC of hypocrisy in handling energy sector issues. She claimed their approach lacks transparency and proper consultation. The dumsor levy was introduced without adequate stakeholder engagement.

“It was introduced in darkness, quite literally and figuratively,” she said on Channel One TV. Ghanaians faced a tax that had no public debate or explanation.

Manu also recalled the NDC's strong opposition to the Akufo-Addo government’s Electronic Levy (E-levy). She described their previous stance as disingenuous.

“It is political inconsistency for a party that vilified the E-levy to defend this levy,” she stated. “Where was the stakeholder engagement then?”

She called for honest national conversations about energy financing. Manu emphasized fairness and consistency in political discourse.
