4 feared dead in gory accident at Assin Bresiako

A head-on collision between a Yutong bus and a tipper truck has resulted in four deaths. Several others were injured in the crash at Assin Bresiako, Central Region.

The incident happened on Monday, May 12. The Yutong bus, with registration number GT 5136-11, was traveling from Cape Coast to Kumasi. The tipper truck, registered as BA 2267-14, was coming from Kumasi to Assin Fosu.

Eyewitnesses told Radio Fosu and Adom News that the bus veered off its lane while overtaking. It collided head-on with the oncoming tipper truck. Reports indicate that the bus's steering wheel locked during this maneuver.

Police have not yet released an official report. However, eyewitnesses confirmed that four passengers died instantly. Many others were injured and taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.

Elisha Sarpong is the Assembly Member for Assin Bresiako Electoral Area. He confirmed the incident to Adom News. He stated that the bus was headed to Kumasi after loading from Cape Coast when the crash occurred.

Sarpong also mentioned that the driver's mate reported a steering lock while overtaking, which caused the accident. One of those who died was one of the drivers.

On the same day, another tragic accident occurred at Akyem Asafo. This crash claimed three lives and left two others injured along the busy Kumasi to Accra highway.
