5 dead as two groups of illegal timber loggers clash in Sefwi Agyemadiem

Five individuals have lost their lives following a violent confrontation between two factions of illegal timber loggers in Sefwi Agyemadiem, located in the Western North Region. The clash erupted over control of timber resources and escalated into a deadly altercation, prompting local authorities to intervene.

Witnesses reported that gunfire rang out as the groups clashed, leaving several others injured in the chaos. Security forces have since been deployed to restore order and prevent further violence in the area, which has seen rising tensions due to illegal logging activities.

Local residents expressed fear over the ongoing conflicts fueled by competition for valuable timber resources, which has increasingly become a source of livelihood for many despite its illegality.
