Eight people have died in an accident on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025. It took place at Nyumuase in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality.
About 11 others are in critical condition. They are receiving treatment at Mathias Hospital in Yeji.
The accident involved a minibus with registration number AS 4360-23. The bus was carrying 19 passengers from Ejura to Yeji.
All victims were businessmen returning from cattle trading activities.
A survivor told Adom News that the driver was speeding. He hit a pothole, which caused the crash.
Abdul-Nasir Dauda, the Pru East District Chief Executive (DCE), spoke about road conditions. He said poor roads from Amantin to Yeji contributed to the accident. He urged drivers to be cautious on that stretch.
Some of the deceased will be buried today, April 29, 2025, following Islamic tradition.
