The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Workers’ Union has suspended a three-day strike triggered by the demolition of Chief Managers' residences in Danyame.

The bungalows were allegedly handed over to private developers by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.

The strike disrupted water supply across the region, leaving many residents struggling with shortages.

After interventions from GWCL directors and key stakeholders, the union agreed to suspend the industrial action following assurances to address their grievances.

Speaking at a press conference, Emmanuel Okpoti Kodiah, Regional Vice Chairman of the Senior Staff Association, emphasized that the suspension is temporary, warning of a potential resumption if promises are not fulfilled.

Water supply has since resumed, bringing relief to affected customers.
