A/R: Police probes murder of former sub-chief of Kokoben new site

Police in the Ashanti Region are investigating the shooting death of a former sub-chief at Kokoben New Site in the Achiase Electoral Area.

The victim, in his late 40s, was attacked near his home around 10 p.m. on January 15, 2025, after returning from town with food.

Assembly Member Muniru Yahaya revealed that the community has faced rising criminal activity, prompting some leaders, including the deceased, to fire warning shots nightly.

Residents mistook gunfire that night as part of the usual routine, only to discover his body the next morning.

Police have visited the scene, and the body has been sent to the morgue. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning as investigations continue.
