Abuakwa South MP partners with US creatives to establish film academy

In a drive to create jobs and harness creativity, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang hosted American philanthropist Dr. Marie Lemelle and actor Dr. Hassan Rasheed. They discussed arts-led development in Abuakwa South.

The goal is to establish one of Africa’s largest film studios there. This initiative aims to provide jobs for youth, nurture local talent, and boost Ghana’s creative economy.

During their visit, the delegation visited Ofori Panin Palace. They immersed themselves in the cultural richness of Akyem Abuakwa state.

This visit aimed to reconnect the African diaspora with their heritage. It also explored partnerships that can create long-term job opportunities for young Ghanaians.

Dr. Marie Lemelle reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the creative arts in Abuakwa South. She shared plans for developing a large film academy in the area.

She expressed optimism about selecting Abuakwa South as the ideal location for this project. The creative hub will offer training in costume design, sound production, and video engineering.

The goal is to elevate Ghana and Africa in the global creative arts scene. This initiative aims to stimulate economic growth and address youth unemployment.

He emphasized Abuakwa South's strategic location between Accra and Kumasi. The MP assured stakeholders of his office's readiness to facilitate land acquisition for the project.
