The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has demolished unauthorized structures in the Dodowa forest, now designated a security zone, to curb encroachment by private developers.
The move, supported by the Forestry Commission, included a tree-planting initiative to restore the forest.
Regional Minister Daniel Titus Glover emphasized the forest's historical significance and urged those claiming ownership to present documentation.
The local youth welcomed the government's efforts to reclaim the forest.
The demolition follows concerns from the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs about increasing encroachment on the land.
