The Ada Traditional Council has raised serious concerns over rising tensions in the Ada Traditional Area, warning that political interference and recent attacks on Electrochem Ghana Limited threaten the future of the local salt industry.

The disputes, centered on the Songor Lagoon—an essential resource—have intensified, with Electrochem facing opposition from local community members claiming lack of consultation.

The Council has accused members of the NDC of inciting violence, leading to attacks on the company’s premises.

The Chief of Ada, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, emphasized the need for urgent government intervention and stronger security measures for Electrochem, similar to those provided to other mining companies.

The Council has also called for law enforcement to prosecute the perpetrators and urged NDC leadership to clarify its involvement in the attacks.
