Afetsi Awoonor Foundation donates to Korle Bu to improve maternal and child healthcare

The Afetsi Awoonor Foundation, an NGO, has donated essential items to mothers and newborns at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The donation includes diapers, wipes, detergents, and sanitary materials. This initiative supports the foundation's mission to improve healthcare in rural areas. Many of these communities lack basic medical resources.

The organization aims to equip health facilities to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. Co-founder Adaku Ufere Awoonor shared her personal experience with diaper challenges as a mother. She believes these donations will help mothers start their journey positively.

Awoonor also stated that improving hospital conditions can lower child mortality rates. The foundation focuses on the Volta Region, where healthcare resources are often inadequate. They plan long-term solutions like funding medical equipment for underserved health centers.

This donation highlights the foundation's role in Ghana's development efforts. Hospital administrators expressed gratitude for the support, noting its immediate benefits for new mothers and infants.

The Afetsi Awoonor Foundation empowers youth and children through skills development and personal growth. They foster self-sufficiency and responsibility toward community development.

Over the years, the foundation has made significant impacts through various initiatives. These include donations to vulnerable groups, solar-powered boreholes, hospital supplies, youth mentorship programs, football tournaments, and business funding.

Looking ahead, the foundation plans to expand outreach programs. They will also advocate for stronger partnerships between private organizations and public health institutions.
