Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South, visited key state institutions today. This visit aimed to improve public service delivery and development initiatives in the municipality.
He toured five major institutions: Ghana Water Company, National Identification Authority (NIA), National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and the Municipal Health Directorate. The MCE wanted to assess operational challenges and develop strategies for better efficiency.
During the tour, Mr. Dagba emphasized collaboration in public administration. He stated that strong partnerships between leadership and institutions are crucial for quality services in Akatsi South.
“Our institutions are vital for public service delivery,” he said. “We must understand their challenges to provide targeted support.”
Identifying Critical Challenges
At the Ghana Water Company, officials discussed infrastructure limitations and rising water demand. They requested modernization of water systems to meet population growth.
The NIA office highlighted ongoing logistical and staffing issues delaying Ghana Card issuance. The MCE promised to engage regional and national directorates for better support.
At NHIS, officials expressed concerns about claims processing difficulties and outdated infrastructure. Hon. Dagba encouraged increased community outreach to boost enrollment and awareness.
The ECG reported issues with power fluctuations, illegal connections, and delays in new installations. The MCE assured them of the Assembly’s support for public education campaigns.
At the Municipal Health Directorate, discussions focused on resource constraints and understaffing at health facilities. Hon. Dagba reaffirmed commitment to supporting health sector improvements.
A Call to Action
Throughout his visit, the MCE urged staff across institutions to recommit to their responsibilities. He stressed that Akatsi South is ready for development but needs everyone’s dedication.
“Let us rise to help reposition this municipality for growth,” he urged stakeholders.
He announced plans for stakeholder dialogues and public accountability forums soon. These will promote transparency, innovation, and inclusive development planning.
