Amansie Rural Bank donates GH¢22,000 worth of menstrual products to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day

To celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day, Amansie Rural Bank PLC donated menstrual hygiene products. The donation is worth GH¢22,000 and went to basic schools in three Amansie districts of the Ashanti Region.

This initiative supports adolescent girls in rural areas. It helps them manage their periods with dignity and stay in school.

The donation reached schools in Amansie South, Amansie Central, and Amansie West. Many young girls lack access to proper menstrual hygiene resources.

In 2024, the bank partnered with Luv FM for a similar project. They distributed 1,130 Eco-Me reusable pads and 600 period panties.

They also provided 10 boxes of disposable sanitary pads, 100 bathing pails, and soap. A pad bank was established to support underprivileged teenage girls.

Mr. Frank Owusu is the Head of Finance at Amansie Rural Bank PLC. He stated that this gesture is a way to give back to communities.

He said, “We believe no girl should miss school because of her period.” This effort aims to break the silence and stigma around menstrual health.

Mr. Owusu highlighted the importance of financial institutions in supporting girl-child development. He emphasized their role in health initiatives for deprived communities.

Menstrual Hygiene Day is celebrated globally on May 28 each year. Its goal is to raise awareness about good menstrual hygiene management. This year's theme is “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.”
