Angry Juaboso youth chase out Chinese miners over failed promises, environmental harm

Tensions escalated in Juaboso, Western North Region. A group of angry youth evicted Chinese miners from a site.

The youth accused the miners of harming the environment. They also claimed the miners broke promises made to the community.

Protests erupted as they stormed the mining area. The youth chanted and halted all operations.

Despite years of mining, locals said no jobs were created. They also noted a lack of developmental support, contrary to agreements.

The youth highlighted dangerous practices by the miners. They mentioned harmful chemicals polluting water bodies and destroying farmland.

After the incident, Nana Agyeman Prempeh spoke at a press conference. He said they had no choice after many ignored appeals to authorities.

Prempeh described the miners as a threat to health and economy. He warned against any future attempts to reinstate them in the district.

He called on the government to stop illegal mining activities permanently.

Police have secured the site and are restoring order. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
