Ashanti Peace Council urges stakeholders to uphold law and protect national peace

The Ashanti Regional Peace Council (ARPC) urges all Ghanaians to stay law-abiding. They emphasize the importance of maintaining peace in the region and the country.

In a press statement on May 30, the Council acknowledged those who promote harmony. However, they also warned about emerging threats to stability.

"Tomorrow marks six months into 2025 since the new government began," the statement said.

The Council highlighted historical trends and early warning signals. They called on stakeholders to protect Ghana's peace and democracy.

Concerns were raised about rising regional threats like terrorism and violent extremism. These issues are reportedly affecting senior high schools.

Additionally, increasing drug use among youth poses a risk. Growing socio-economic inequality is another danger to national harmony.

The ARPC stressed that peace relies on respecting laws and individual rights.

They urged stakeholders involved in reducing transportation fares to follow laws closely. This will help ensure sustainable peace after recent changes.

The Council encouraged citizens to trust public institutions and each other. Peaceful coexistence requires collective responsibility from everyone.

“We should be law-abiding, patient, empathetic, and trust our governing institutions,” they stated.

“Let us all continue to uphold our priceless gift of peace as a nation.”
