Asokore Mampong confirms Ben Abdallah Alhassan as MCE despite strong opposition

The President's nominee for Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong has been confirmed.

Ben Abdallah Alhassan received 17 out of 18 votes, or 94 percent.

This confirmation followed controversies that led to the suspension of some party members.

Muntaka Mubarak, the Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency, attended the meeting.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Alhassan expressed his commitment to local government regulations.

He stated, "I will act and work as MCE according to the Constitution and Local Government Act."

He also assured the MP of his willingness to collaborate on local development.

Earlier, Muntaka Mubarak thanked all stakeholders for confirming the MCE.

Meanwhile, Mohammed L.A. Jarah, Presiding Member for Asokore Mampong Municipality, emphasized support for the new MCE.

The Assembly had operated without a Presiding Member for over a year before Mohammed's election.
