The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Patrick Osei Boamah, announced plans to reclaim degraded lands. This initiative is part of the government’s ‘Tree for Life’ project.
Illegal mining has devastated large areas of land in the municipality. The local government aims to restore these areas through tree planting.
President Mahama launched the "Tree for Life" project on March 25, 2025. June has been declared a reforestation month.
To celebrate World Environment Day, Mr. Boamah led tree planting efforts with the assembly and Forestry Commission.
He urged residents to support this initiative. If everyone plants two trees, it will greatly help the environment.
Mr. Boamah also promised to take action against those harming natural resources. He called on traditional leaders and residents to join this effort.
Abraham Essel, Director of the Forestry Commission for Atwima Nwabiagya South, invited people to visit their office for free tree seedlings. Private companies can inquire about bulk purchases.
He assured that the Commission would ensure all planted trees survive.
