The Business Executives for Ken (BEK) support former MP Kennedy Agyapong. They condemned the stabbing of a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) student. This incident occurred during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national ‘Thank You’ tour in Kumasi.
Due to safety concerns, Mr. Agyapong withdrew from the tour. The NPP's tour has faced tensions, especially among party leaders. Notable figures like Mr. Agyapong and Kwame Baffoe Abronye had heated exchanges in Berekum.
The situation escalated when suspected party vigilantes stabbed a KNUST student. This student is believed to be a supporter of Mr. Agyapong.
In their statement, BEK condemned the violence and called for tolerance among party members. They emphasized that democracy should welcome differing views without causing harm.
They stated, “We condemn this violent incident unequivocally.” They believe such acts are outdated and should not exist in politics.
The group urged the Police Service to investigate swiftly and hold perpetrators accountable. They also called for increased security during political tours to prevent future incidents.
“No blood must stain any political activity,” they said.
Additionally, BEK encouraged party leadership to ensure fair competition among candidates for flagbearer. They insisted that all candidates should have equal opportunities without favoritism.
They praised Mr. Agyapong for prioritizing safety over political ambitions by withdrawing from the tour.
BEK assured him of their unwavering support, stating he is capable of leading Ghana toward economic transformation and discipline.
