The Paramount Chief of Bawku, Zug-Raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has called for peace and unity to end the long-standing conflict that has hindered progress in the region.
Speaking during his 40th anniversary and the 37th Samanpiid festival, he urged the youth and elders to work toward lasting tranquility to rebuild Bawku’s economic vibrancy.
Highlighting his achievements, the chief noted efforts to abolish Female Genital Mutilation, promote education, and conserve the environment. He appealed to the incoming NDC government to prioritize key projects, including the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulimakom road.
Guest speaker Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih encouraged factions to embrace dialogue, emphasizing that unity in diversity can drive development.
The Samanpiid festival celebrates ancestral blessings and a successful harvest.
