A massive fire engulfed the Borla Kɛseɛm wood market in Kwadaso, Kumasi, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, causing extensive damage to property.

The blaze, believed to have started from an electrical fault in the sawmill section, spread rapidly and triggered an explosion in a nearby ECG Power Supply chamber.

Despite swift efforts by traders, neighbors, and emergency responders, the fire destroyed key equipment, plants, and wood worth thousands of cedis.

Accessibility issues within the market hindered the Ghana National Fire Service's response, further escalating the destruction.

Traders and business owners, now counting their losses, have called for enhanced safety measures and better emergency access to prevent future disasters.
