Dispute over chairmanship disrupts Church service in Tarkwa

A church service at the Christian Divine Church headquarters in Tarkwa New Atuabo turned chaotic on Sunday, December 29, as a conflict over the chairmanship escalated.

Police and local authorities intervened to prevent potential clashes during a planned induction service.

Apostle Ebenezer Boahen’s attempt to install Rev. Francis Manu as chairman was halted after a court ruling required elections, which led to Pastor Alex Aidoo being elected with 97% of the vote.

However, Boahen conducted a secret election with 11 pastors, leading to two competing chairmen.

The Apinto Traditional Council has called a meeting for peace talks.

Meanwhile, three navy officers posing as soldiers for Boahen’s induction were arrested.

Church members criticized Boahen’s refusal to retire, calling for unity and transparency.
