Residents of Elmina in the Central Region have taken to the streets in a peaceful protest, calling for the return of the Elmina Salt Industry to community control.

The protest follows allegations that the factory was sold by the Paramount Chief, Nana Kodwo Conduah VI, despite its historical significance to the town.

Locals claim that the factory, once a vital community asset, has not benefited Elmina for over 26 years.

While the Edina Traditional Council argues the factory was leased, the community remains determined to reclaim control, demanding accountability and a fair distribution of its profits for future development.
