The Ekumfi Traditional Council has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to ensure equitable distribution of development in the Central Region.
The council commended Mahama’s respect for traditional authorities, which they believe earned him strong support, and urged him to uphold this trust.
Council President Odeefuor Akyin VIII emphasized the need for balanced development, criticizing earlier remarks by President Nana Akufo-Addo that Ekumfi lacked progress due to not voting for NPP's Francis Ato Cudjoe in the 2020 elections.
As the successor to the late President John Evans Atta Mills, the council pledged continued recognition of Mahama as a "son of the land" and urged him to prioritize the needs of Ekumfi and other communities in his administration.
