A massive fire swept through the Techiman Central Market in the Bono East Region on Sunday, January 12, destroying numerous shops and leaving traders in despair.
The blaze spread rapidly due to the tightly packed shops and flammable materials within the market.
Emergency teams from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) managed to contain the fire and prevent further spread to nearby areas.
Divisional Officer I Alex King Nartey confirmed the incident, sharing a video of the raging inferno on social media.
This tragedy follows a recent fire at Accra’s Kantamanto Market on January 2, which destroyed hundreds of stalls, causing significant economic losses and raising concerns about market safety across the country.
