A fire engulfed an electrical appliances shop in Zogbeli, Tamale, on Tuesday morning, causing extensive damage.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded swiftly, preventing the flames from spreading to a nearby storey building with multiple stalls.

The fire started at 10:30 a.m., and after three hours of intense firefighting, it was controlled by 1:04 p.m. and fully extinguished by 3:11 p.m.

Reinforcements, including two additional fire tenders and a water tanker, ensured containment.

Northern Regional Fire Commander ACFO II Masiku supervised the operation, with no casualties reported.

Eyewitnesses lauded the prompt response, noting it averted greater damage.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause, as the shop owner assesses significant losses.
