A fire outbreak at Kumasi's Race Course Market early Tuesday morning destroyed over 30 shops, leaving traders devastated.

The blaze, which started around 1 a.m., consumed metal containers and wooden structures belonging to vendors of watermelons, grapes, and cold store goods.

Three fire engines from the Ghana Fire Service responded to the scene, managing to contain the flames. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the affected traders have lost their livelihoods.

Naomi Serwaa, leader of the Watermelon Sellers Association, has called on the government and philanthropists to support those affected as they struggle to rebuild their businesses.
