Former Yendi MP Dr Farouk Mahama donates towards funeral of late Mion chief

Dr. Farouk Aliu Mahama, former MP for Yendi, donated GH₵10,000. This donation supports the final funeral rites of Mion Lana Naa Mahamadu Abdulai V.

The donation included 10 bags of maize and 10 bags of rice. It also featured 5 gallons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of tinned tomatoes, a bull, and several bags of sachet water.

Mion Lana passed away on August 17, 2022. He died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. He was buried in Sambu according to Islamic customs.

Born in 1974, he was enskinned on March 3, 2019. His enskinment took place at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi. The late Mion Lana was privately known as Mahamadu Abdulai.

Dr. Farouk encouraged local youth to maintain peace among themselves. He emphasized that this is a legacy of the late Mion Lana.

In an interview with JoyNews, he stated that peace will help develop Mion, Yendi, and Dagbon. Dr. Farouk assured the late chief's family he would always be available to help.

Kumabaga Naa Mahama Bukari thanked Dr. Farouk on behalf of the family. He noted this is Dr. Farouk's third donation for the ongoing funeral rites.

As chiefs and dignitaries gathered, local drummers began to perform praises for the late Mion-Lana. They recounted his achievements and virtues while the crowd swayed to the music.

The audience displayed mixed emotions of sorrow and joy during the performance. They enjoyed Dagbon's rich culture through beautiful regalia designs and rhythmic drumming.

The final funeral rites serve as a tribute to Mion-Lana’s life and legacy. This celebration will be remembered for generations to come.
