Fuel tanker catches fire on Accra-Kumasi highway

A disaster was narrowly avoided on the Accra-Kumasi highway. A fully loaded fuel tanker caught fire near New Jejeti.

The incident happened on Monday. The tanker, with registration number GT 6870-24, carried about 54,000 litres of fuel.

The cause of the fire is unclear. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle lost balance and fell on its side, igniting the flames.

Personnel from the Anyinam Fire Station responded quickly to the emergency call. They rushed to the scene to manage the situation.

Upon arrival, firefighters took control promptly. They used cooling techniques and monitored the tanker closely to prevent an explosion.

Their swift response brought the fire under control before it escalated. The Ghana National Fire Service received praise for their timely intervention.
