The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is launching a paragliding project in the Volta Region.
This ambitious initiative is led by Mr. Ekow Sampson, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GTA.
A team of experts recently visited potential sites for the event. This included a well-known paragliding pilot. They were welcomed by Mr. Daniel Dzegede, Executive Director of the Volta Development Forum (VDF).
The team assessed three locations: Likpe, Amedzofe, and the Adaklu mountains. The goal is to create an event similar to the Kwahu Paragliding Festival.
This initiative aims to boost tourism in the region. It will also promote cultural exchange and sustainable community development.
Mr. Sampson believes this project will unlock significant tourism potential in Volta Region. He stated it would positively impact local economic growth and community development.
The project is expected to increase demand for hotels, restaurants, and other tourism businesses. Mr. Dzegede and Dr. Stanley Glatey from VDF pledged full support for the GTA team.
They promised close collaboration with state institutions for success. Challenges like poor road infrastructure were acknowledged but can be overcome together.
Likpe is being positioned as a premier paragliding destination, with an inaugural event planned for December.
Mr. Godfred Koffie, District Chief Executive for Guan District Assembly, expressed readiness to support this project. He aims to raise public awareness about tourism opportunities in the area.
As this initiative develops, Volta Region could become a key tourist destination known for its stunning landscapes and adventure sports.
