Residents of Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region are living in fear following reports that an investor has acquired over 50 acres of land earmarked for demolition.
In 2024, parts of the settlement were destroyed after Gomoa Fetteh traditional authorities reclaimed lands initially allocated to Liberian refugees.
Now, residents claim another wave of demolitions is imminent, sparking concerns and resistance.
“We understand the land has been sold, and demolition is coming. We will not sit back,” a resident warned. Others have called on President John Mahama to intervene, stressing that eviction would leave many homeless.
Some residents have threatened to resist any forced eviction, raising tensions in the community. Authorities are yet to officially comment on the matter.
