Ho residents face extended water shortage as repairs delay

GWL assured residents it is working diligently to restore supply GWL assured residents it is working diligently to restore supply

Residents of Ho and its surrounding areas will endure an additional 36-hour water supply outage due to delays in ongoing repairs by Ghana Water Limited (GWL).

This contradicts an earlier assurance by Volta Regional Minister James Gunu, who had promised restoration by Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) confirmed the delay after a site visit with GWL engineers.

GWL assured residents it is working diligently to restore supply.

Meanwhile, the prolonged crisis, caused by frequent pump failures at Kpeve, has forced many to rely on private suppliers.

Minister Gunu disclosed that $52 million is required for a system expansion to address Ho’s recurring water shortages. PURC pledged to monitor the repairs to ensure timely completion.
