Implementation committee inaugurated for establishment of Kumawu Nursing and Midwifery College

Quality nursing education and healthcare are vital today. Advanced training programs for skilled professionals are essential.

To address this need, the Kumawu Nursing and Midwifery College is being established. This college will provide comprehensive nursing education. It aims to nurture a new generation of skilled healthcare professionals.

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, a nine-member Implementation Committee was inaugurated. The ceremony was led by Kumawumanhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua and Rev. Msgr. John Opoku-Agyemang from the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong.

The Committee includes representatives from various organizations. These include the Catholic Church, the Kumawu Traditional Council, and local government bodies. Also included is Ernest Yaw Anim, the Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency.

The Committee has several key responsibilities. They will propose a name for the college and obtain accreditation. They will also set a realistic timeline for implementation.

At the inauguration ceremony in Kumawu, Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua urged unity among Committee members. He stressed commitment and collaboration for successful establishment of the institution.

MP Ernest Yaw Anim assured support for the project. He stated that effective actions would be taken to establish the college. This will benefit healthcare education and services in Kumawuman and beyond.

Rev. Msgr. John Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed his Diocese's commitment to the project. He pledged necessary support for its success.

During their first meeting, the Committee discussed infrastructure needs. They talked about classrooms, dormitories, and renovating Kumawu Hospital building to support the college's establishment.

Once operational, Kumawu Nursing and Midwifery College is expected to significantly impact nursing in Ghana.
