The Minister for the Interior, Muhammed Muntaka, has imposed a ban on carrying arms in Walewale and its surrounding areas, effective immediately.

In a statement published on February 15, the Ministry warned that anyone found in possession of arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons would be arrested and prosecuted.

Additionally, on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council, a curfew has been imposed on Walewale from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, starting Saturday, February 15, 2025.

The Ministry urged local leaders and residents to remain calm and use peaceful means to address their concerns.
