Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Nhyiaeso MP, has built a 33-unit classroom block. This new facility will support teaching and learning at the State Experimental School in Kumasi.
The project responds to a Joy News feature aired two years ago. The report highlighted the poor condition of the school’s facilities.
Dr. Amoah said, "The story put pressure on us." He added that modernizing basic schools in Nhyiaeso is a priority. He thanked GETFUND for their support.
In February 2022, Erastus Asare Donkor's report showed an old building at risk. Its pillars were falling apart, posing danger to students.
As a temporary solution, Dr. Amoah funded renovations to ensure safety. The State Experimental Basic School is located in Ridge Residential Area, Kumasi.
Established in the 1950s, it has educated many notable figures in Ghana. The new 33-classroom unit aims to provide lasting relief for the school.
Dr. Amoah believes this facility can compete with private schools in Ashanti Region. School managers have expressed gratitude for his initiative.
Headmistress Joana Anokyewaa promised to maintain the new facility. However, she is concerned about private developers encroaching on school land.
The MP remains committed to promoting education in his constituency. He mentioned similar projects at other schools as well.
"Within four years, we provided over 2400 desks," he stated. "All Senior High Schools received computers and we awarded over seven hundred local scholarships."
