Over 632 members of the Kejetia Petty Traders Association have urged the government, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Ashanti Regional Minister to ensure fairness in the allocation of stores under the second phase of the Kejetia Market project.
These traders, who previously occupied the old market, say they have endured harsh conditions on the streets despite contributing financially to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
Association Chairman Emmanuel Kwarteng lamented the struggles of members, citing heavy losses since their displacement. He stressed that after years of waiting, they deserve priority in store allocations to restore their businesses.
The second phase of the Kejetia Market project aims to provide modern trading spaces, but concerns over transparency have sparked anxiety.
The traders insist that authorities must prevent favoritism and ensure all displaced vendors receive fair treatment in the new marketplace.
