Low voltage and power fluctuations experienced in Volta Region due to insufficient supply from GRIDCO - ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has provided an update. The power interruptions in the Volta Region are due to insufficient supply from GRIDCO.

Customers often face low voltage and power fluctuations, especially in the evenings. They also experience intermittent power cuts.

In a notice, ECG explained that it is only distributing what it receives from the Asiekpe Bulk Supply Point.

The Volta Regional Public Relations Unit stated, “The root cause is not ECG's distribution.” It originates from GRIDCO’s supply at Asiekpe.

ECG acknowledged that this situation has damaged appliances and affected livelihoods. They apologized for any inconvenience caused.

Both ECG and GRIDCO are working hard to resolve the issue. They promise uninterrupted power supply after maintenance on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

In the meantime, their team is patrolling and troubleshooting the network. They want to ensure there are no additional faults on their end.

They ask for patience as they work with GRIDCO to restore reliable power. ECG is confident that service quality will improve after maintenance work is completed.
