Ludwig Teye Totimeh has been confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema West. This decision came after a Special General Assembly Meeting on Thursday, May 2025.
Mr. Totimeh received all 30 valid votes, achieving 100% support from Assembly Members. This exceeded the two-thirds majority needed under Section 20 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
The Electoral Commission (EC) conducted the election. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, supervised the voting process. She praised the Assembly Members for their unity and urged them to fulfill their constitutional duties.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Totimeh thanked President John Dramani Mahama for his appointment. He promised to work hard for development in Tema West.
“First and foremost, I thank Almighty God for this opportunity,” he said. “I am profoundly grateful to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for his confidence in me.” He also thanked party executives, traditional leaders, and all supporters.
Mr. Totimeh assured everyone of an inclusive leadership approach. “I will work closely with Unit Committee Members,” he emphasized. “You will be included in all decision-making processes.”
The confirmation ceremony had several dignitaries present. Notable attendees included Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Policy Advisor for Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President.
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo assured residents that Tema West would benefit from national development initiatives. “Tema West will not be left out,” he stated confidently. “You will receive your fair share of the national cake.”
