President John Dramani Mahama has expressed dissatisfaction with the resettlement efforts for tidal wave victims in the Volta Region, describing the current site as inadequate and poorly planned.
During a visit to Agavedzi and other affected areas, Mahama inspected the damage and raised concerns over the resettlement project, reportedly funded by Ghana Gas.
He criticized the site’s location in a flood-prone area, warning that it is unfit for long-term habitation.
“The work is shoddy, and the area itself is prone to flooding. These buildings are not fit for purpose,” he stated.
Mahama called for a review of the project and emphasized the need for both an improved resettlement plan and the continuation of the sea defense wall to protect affected communities.
