A tragic fire outbreak on Saturday claimed the life of an elderly man, Nmei Sam, believed to be in his 80s, in the Sawla Sindaa electoral area of the Savannah Region.
Sam, who lived alone without electricity, was found dead in his room after the fire.
Residents, stunned by the incident, remain puzzled about its cause.
Firefighters, arriving on motorbikes due to a faulty district fire tender, relied on water from nearby homes to extinguish the blaze.
Sawlawura Abdulai Nungbaso, the chief of Sawla, urged residents to exercise caution during the harmattan season and appealed to the government to repair the fire tender.
The deceased has been handed over to his family for burial in accordance with Vagla tradition.
