Massive demonstration hits Elmina; residents demand the return of GN Bank

The protest is part of a nationwide push to revive the bank The protest is part of a nationwide push to revive the bank

The streets of Elmina erupted in protest on December 2, 2024, as hundreds rallied behind Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom in the “Bring Back GN Bank” campaign.

Demonstrators expressed frustration over the 2019 collapse of GN Bank, criticizing government and traditional leaders for what they deemed a betrayal of trust.

Dr. Nduom, founder of GN Bank, called the bank's closure a deliberate attack on local entrepreneurship, emphasizing its critical role in supporting rural communities and small businesses.

The protest is part of a nationwide push to revive the bank, which lost its license amid regulatory claims of governance flaws.

Despite a court ruling upholding the decision, Dr. Nduom remains optimistic, pledging to restore the bank and its legacy of empowering local businesses.
