The Ministry of Energy has distributed 700 cooking stoves to women in Jamestown to promote cleaner cooking practices and enhance public health and energy access.

This initiative, part of the National LPG Promotion Programme and Cylinder Recirculation Model, encourages a shift from traditional firewood and charcoal to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Minister Herbert Krapa emphasized the government’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, aiming for 50% of Ghanaians to use LPG for cooking by 2030.

The initiative addresses health concerns linked to smoke exposure and deforestation, with plans to expand nationwide.

The event also raised awareness of the benefits of clean cooking and the Cylinder Recirculation Model for easy LPG access.
