Mother’s Day: Ahafo Minister donates to mothers and children at St John of God Hospital

As part of this year’s Mother’s Day activities, Ahafo Regional Minister Charity Gardiner donated items to mothers and children at St John of God Catholic Hospital in Duayaw-Nkwanta.

The donation included 1,500 baby diapers, 400 baby wipes, and a bale of baby clothing. It also featured 112 sanitary pads, 12 cans of NAN baby formula, and 100 paper pads. Additionally, there were pieces of cloth and various food and beverage items.

Children in the pediatric unit and mothers in the labor ward were delighted by the gesture. They warmly engaged with the Minister during her visit. Earlier that day, she shared a meal with inmates at Kenyasi Settlement Camp Prison.

She also supported a medical screening exercise and paid a courtesy call on the Kukuom Traditional Council. Furthermore, she held a special engagement with queenmothers in the region.

Mother’s Day in Ghana is an important tradition. It honors the love and sacrifices of mothers each year. People celebrate through personal tributes, family gatherings, and community events.

In her address, Mrs. Gardiner encouraged mothers at the hospital to raise their children with strong values. She emphasized faith, good manners, patriotism, and compassion as essential qualities.

"When our children are raised responsibly," she said, "they become respectful and hardworking." She highlighted that these values are crucial for nation-building.

Mrs. Gardiner urged residents not to give up on their dreams. "What the future holds is unknown," she stated. "But those who quit never win."

She was accompanied by Tano North Municipal Chief Executive Pius Opoku and Tano South Municipal Chief Executive Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong. Other regional heads of departments also joined them.

Dr. Kobina Tsibo-Takyi is the Medical Director at St John of God Catholic Hospital. He expressed gratitude on behalf of management and staff for the Minister’s visit and donations.
