Nsuta-Kyebi community relieved with water access after Garden of Grace Foundation donation

Residents of Nsuta-Kyebi in the Ashanti Region have struggled for years. They queue for hours at distant streams to fetch water.

Women and children often wake at dawn to make this trek. The daily ordeal has been a significant burden on them.

Recently, the community celebrated a positive change. A new water project aims to alleviate their water challenges.

UNICEF reports that one in ten people in Ghana spends over half an hour accessing improved water sources. This situation is familiar to residents of Nsuta-Kyebi.

Former assemblyman Asare Kweku Brefo highlighted the severity of the issue. He said, “Getting access to potable water is a problem.” During dry seasons, it becomes even worse. Residents must travel to nearby communities for water.

The breakthrough came from the Garden of Grace Foundation Inc. They provided a mechanized borehole for drinking water. This supply benefits both the Presbyterian Church’s Mission House and the Nsuta-Kyebi community.

Dr. Isaac Agyemang Duah founded the Garden of Grace Foundation based on personal experiences. Rev. Chris Osei-Wusu, Country Representative, explained their motivation for helping.

He said, “We are grateful to God for this opportunity.” The foundation recognized the dire situation and committed to assisting those in need.

Rev. Elliott A. Amponsah leads the Presbyterian Church in Nsuta-Kyebi. He praised the foundation's efforts despite challenges accessing underground water.

He stated, “We made our plight public, and it touched their hearts.” The process was difficult but necessary for obtaining water.

Rev. Sam Foster Kwakye chairs the Sekyere Presbytery of the church. He expressed gratitude for the changes brought by the Garden of Grace Foundation.

He noted that many challenges did not stop their quest for clean drinking water. The community now feels relief thanks to this mechanized borehole project.

“Your efforts have brought smiles,” he said, as they no longer need long journeys for potable drinking water.
