Nungua residents demand intensified police patrol due to rise in robberies

Residents of Nungua Addogono and Baatsona in the Greater Accra Region are alarmed by a surge in robberies and phone-snatching incidents, particularly during evening hours.

The thieves, often in pairs on motorbikes, target commuters, snatching phones, handbags, and valuables before speeding off.

Isaac Young, a businessman, shared his ordeal of being chased and robbed at 10:00 PM, with the thieves mockingly returning his basic phone, urging him to "upgrade."

Another resident, Mawutor Gaar, recounted witnessing a phone-snatching incident, which left him hesitant to carry his phone out in the evening.

Assemblyman John Issah Andullah Tassa acknowledged the issue, citing frequent reports of robberies and inadequate street lighting.

He plans to collaborate with the police to boost patrols in high-risk areas and called on residents to report suspicious activities.
