Orca Deco Ghana lowers prices by 15% in response to stronger cedi, effective May 12

Orca Deco Ghana has announced a 15% price reduction on all products. This change will take effect on Monday, May 12, 2025.

The decision follows the recent recovery of the Ghanaian Cedi against the US dollar. Jihan Kudsy, Sales & Marketing Manager at Orca Deco Ghana, explained this development.

Kudsy stated, "At Orca Deco Ghana, we believe in fairness to our customers." She added that they want to support customers after recent economic challenges.

The Economic Context Behind the Price Drop:

Kudsy outlined the economic journey since January 2022. This journey affected prices and consumer purchasing power in Ghana:

- December 2021: ₵6.50 = $1
- September 2022: ₵12.70 = $1
- 2023: Stabilized near ₵12.00 = $1
- 2024: Sharp decline to ₵16.40 = $1 by September

However, there is good news now. Kudsy noted a positive shift since April 20, 2025. By May 9, it reached ₵13.30 against the dollar. Bloomberg reported on May 8 that the Cedi is now the "best-performing currency in the world," appreciating by 16%.

She also mentioned alignment with national goals. The Finance Minister urged businesses to reflect the Cedi’s appreciation in pricing.
