The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested six suspects. They are linked to illegal mining operations, known as galamsey. This took place at Bepoakyi, near Dompim in the Western Region.
The arrests occurred on April 23, 2025. This action is part of ongoing anti-galamsey efforts.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Desmond Boampong announced this at a press conference in Tarkwa. He is the Western Central Regional Police Commander.
The suspects are Justice Tetteh, Michael Anche, Bismark Gyimah, Ramzy Amoah, Michael Attivor, and Emmanuel Andoh.
DCOP Boampong reported that police seized five excavators from the suspects. These excavators are currently in police custody at Dompim. They will be moved to the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.
He confirmed that the six suspects are in custody and assisting with investigations. DCOP Boampong assured the public that efforts against illegal mining will continue. The goal is to protect natural resources in the region.
