Police destroy 120 changfang machines at Wassa Gyapa 

The Western Central Regional Police Command has disabled 120 changfang machines. These machines were used for illegal mining in Wassa Gyapa, Western Region.

This operation took place on May 19, 2025. It also resulted in the arrest of 13 suspects.

A press release stated that this action is part of ongoing anti-galamsey efforts in the region.

The arrested suspects are: Nana Ampadu, Stephen Tetteh, Yaw Dalame, Samuel Amoah, Kwame Oppong, Francis Oduom, Owusu Asare, Atta Kwame, Apiyanga Emmanuel, Kojo Montanakito, Maxwell Owusu, Obofo Vincent, and Soogal Fataw.

The statement noted that six motorbikes were also retrieved from the site. The suspects will be arraigned on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
