Police intercept GH¢1m cash hidden in fertiliser bags at Juapong

The Volta Regional Police Command has confirmed a significant interception.

They stopped a Ford Transit bus loaded with cash. The bus contained sixty-eight bags of fertiliser. Inside, there was a total of GH¢1,021,700 in one cedi notes and coins.

This operation occurred at about 4:45 pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. It happened during a routine check at Juapong.

The vehicle was traveling from Ho to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region when stopped.

The driver is Edward Ansah, who is now in police custody. He claimed he was hired by someone in Kumasi to transport the cash.

Authorities have not revealed the purpose of the transfer or where the money came from. The use of fertiliser bags for concealment has raised suspicions. Investigations are currently ongoing.

“The suspect is assisting police with their inquiries,” stated the police press release. “The public will be updated on the outcome.”
